Films I See by Gina Wong

I am bored

Gina Wong curates PUFF

Here is a challenge for our film buffs :  detect this formula in any film you see in the next few weeks.

Our hero, always a man, faces a challenge.  He lost his woman, either a wife or girlfriend.  She either died or divorced and is removed from our story.  As the story develop, the man meets a new woman.  They overcome dangers or difficulties.  They fall in love during the process.  End of the movie. Repeat.

Collateral Damage :  The protagonist Gordon is a fireman. His wife and son was killed by a bomb; our hero hunts down the killers.  He went to where the terrorist live and there he met a young mother with a son.  There follows much gun fights and chases.  End of movie.

Just like Heavens : A lonely landscape architect David falls for the spirit of the beautiful woman who used to live in his new apartment.  His first wife died; he moved into Elizabeth's apartment. Elizabeth is a doctor, who has never been in love.  David and Elizabeth falls in love.
